Johan de Jong started his career in 1974 at the Dutch National Police (Rijkspolitie), where he has held various positions at local, regional and national levels. He was a member of the Central Works Council and the Main Board of NPB Netherlands Police Association. He studied various Martial Arts since 1977 and started Kyokushin Zeeland in 1985. From 1989-1992 he coordinated a National private PC project and a Corporate Fitness project. In 1992 he left the Police to open his own Lifestyle Centre, after having completed various training courses in the field of entrepreneurship, catering, sports and fitness. In 2000 he sold his centre to the Sports and Leisure Group, where he became responsible as C.O.O. for (inter)national expansion and central purchase. With an MBA of the University of Groningen, his international career started. From 1995-2005 Johan was a member of the NOC*NSF Dutch Olympic Network. In 2005 he founded FitXpress, a circuittraining concept, that was successfully sold after one year. In 2006 he joined Vital People, a Startup and Research project on health interventions and digital health for the Vital Foundation based in Lugano, Switzerland. Renowned research bodies CISS (China Institute for Sport Science, Beijing, China), the University of Bielefeld (Germany) and Philips Research (Eindhoven, The Netherlands) participated. In 2009 he initiated the V-Check lifestyle franchise concept based on a Wegamed Bodyscan device. This franchise was targeted at the health club industry. He presented the concept also to Sao Paulo Football Club, at a convention in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and on Sports Technology & Health Science Congresses in Mumbai, Chennai and Kakinada, India. In 2013 he co-founded Healthy Cities and developed projects in Paraguay, Costa Rica, Indonesia, India and Switzerland. Currently he is now involved in the Historical Assets Redemption Program. Johan is a member of the Dutch Sports Professional Network. He holds a 6th degree black belt in kyokushin karate and is considered an expert in martial arts and self-defence. In addition to teaching, he also trains trainers and teachers for the Dutch Karate Association NKA-IFK.
